Four months after making their marriage official at the local courthouse, Nikki & Tim decided they wanted something more personal than just signing papers, they wanted an actual wedding experience to remember. Instead of a big venue or guest list, for the sake of privacy and simplicity, they chose a private island elopement near New Smyrna Beach Florida for their quiet and meaningful celebration.
The Plan for Their Day
After only a few short months of planning; locations, logistics, activities, and finding the perfect dress on Amazon, their day began at Smyrna Dunes Park. To keep things very simple they arrived already dressed in wedding attire, ready to start their evening with a relaxing stroll down the beach to ease their nerves and enjoy a moment of peace. Their beach walk was something from a sea farers story- walking hand in hand toward the jetty with the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse in the background. It was a relaxed start, with time to take in the coastal views before meeting friends who had arranged a private boat charter. They also had the pleasure of seeing several endangered Gopher Tortoises on their walk across the boardwalk before reaching the beach!
Their Ceremony
After meeting friends at a nearby boat ramp, their private captain carried them across the water to a secluded island only accessible by boat, the perfect setting for a private island wedding in Florida. With drinks in hand and great friends by their side the boat ride was one filled with laughter and smiles. Once arriving to their secluded island location they sat comfortably on the boy of the boat and jotted down the vows they’d be speaking just minutes later. During their vow exchange and as the sun set, the lighthouse behind them stood in silhouette. They stepped onto the white sand and exchanged their private vows to only the sound of waves breaking on the shore.
Afterward, they toasted champagne alongside their friends, then ended the evening splashing in the surf in their wedding clothes long after the sun had set.
